Author of The Fifth and Final Name: Memoir of an American Churchill, Rhonda Noonan, Travelling To UK for Homecoming Tour of Her Ancestry in August of 2104
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: After her three-decades journey to find the truth about her father and her Churchill family connections, Oklahoma native Rhonda Noonan is planning a “Bastard’s Homecoming Tour” of the UK. While other members of the Churchill family have not acknowledged Noonan as a lost family member, the lack of a welcoming mat is not stopping Noonan. This is the first time she will be in her grandfathers’ beloved England and a full tour of historic Churchill landmarks is on her itinerary.
Join the Tour of Historic Landmarks of Sir Winston Churchill’s Life and Legacy
Parliament and the Churchill War Rooms are on the list for London visits during the first days of the trip. Then, Noonan and entourage will travel to historic Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshireand visit the late prime minister’s final resting place at St. Martin’s Church in Bladon. In Westerham, Chartwell, they will visit the principal adult home of Sir Winston Churchill and his wife Clementine. The final stopover before returning to London includes a stay at the Beryl Farm in Somerset close to Glastonbury. The Glastonbury Children’s Festival was co-founded by Noonan’s late half-sister, Arabella Churchill. Both Noonan and Bella, as she was called, shared Randolph Churchill as a father.
Documenting the Connection to the Churchill Family Tree
Much like the stories recently in the press regarding the Spanish waiter believed to be the illegitimate son of Spain’s recently abdicated king Juan Carlos or the recent legal victory of Robert Brown believe to be the secret illegitimate son of Princess Margaret, Noonan believes that all humans have a right to know where they come from.
The incredible story of Noonan’s quest to trace her true linage to Sir Winston’s Churchill’s family tree has been documented in the memoir, The Fifth and Final Name: Memoir of an American Churchill (Chumbolly Press, February 2013). The story, available on at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com in print, audio or e-book,details her shocking and remarkable journey in discovering that she is granddaughter to the late Sir Winston Churchill. Her intense search would include institutional stonewalling and a detailed FBI cover-up, the acquisition of court files, the intervention of judges, attorneys and detectives and, at long last, validation of her identity by a former state employee who handled the meeting with Randolph Churchill. It took 30 years and countless dollars for this adopted adult to learn what most people learn for free: who they are.
Adoption Losses and Birthrights Denied
While in the UK, plans are also being made to meet up with other members of the international adoption community. Noonan is travelling with birthmother and adoption activist, Claudia Corrigan D’Arcy, who is known for her outspoken adoption website, Musings of the Lame.
Claudia’s writings on adoption issue have been published in The New York Times, What to Expect, Chicago Now, Divine Caroline, Adoption Today Magazine and many others. She has been interviewed by Dan Rather, Montel Williams and appeared on Huffington Post regarding adoption as well as presented at various adoption conferences. As a public voice for birthmothers, she has spear-headed efforts to increase adoptee access to information across the US.
While touring historical tourist sites might not be an adoptee’s preferred homecoming; for Noonan it’s very exciting nevertheless. Says Noonan about her upcoming homeland trip:
“I want to immerse myself in my grandfather’s world; to experience England and his legacy by visiting the places he worked and lived. It is doubtful there has ever lived another Englishman who so ferociously loved his country and I am thrilled to walk the streets and view the hillsides he called home.”
Churchill’s granddaughter will be available for limited interviews and appearances while travelling. Interested media parties should relay their interests and confirm schedules as soon as possible by calling Adopting Social 00 + 1 + 845-750-5954 ( USA). The general itinerary of the “Bastard’s Homecoming Tour” is as follows:
- August 22 to August 25: London
- August 25 to August 27: Oxfordshire
- August 27 and August 28: Westerham
- August 29 to August 31: Somerset
